Historical Challenges

  • Designers and design partners wanted to incorporate local businesses and community partners into course designs

  • The process of easily finding, understanding and contacting community businesses proved to be difficult

Design Solutions

  • Created a repository of various organizations in the Atlanta area that the design team could potentially partner with to bring unique learning projects into our course design

  • Developed an Airtable database of organizations

  • Developed a form for new partnership submissions form designers

  • Developed a Learning Design Knowledge Base article to make the database and form accessible to design team members

Historical Challenges

  • Student data showed a lack of engagement in the online discussion boards in the How People Learn course

Design Solutions

  • Researched discussion board engagement techniques

  • Collated techniques into a solutions-based infographic that outlined 3 common limitations in engagement and varying solutions for each limitation

  • Presented infographic to Harvard directors who presented information at a director’s conference

 

Welcome home: A guide for creating inviting homepages on canvas for harvard graduate school of education’s (hgse) teaching and learning lab

Historical Challenges

  • The Teaching and Learning Lab planned to migrate content from the EdX LMS to Canvas, however, the team demonstrated a need for exemplified homepages for the new iteration

Design Solutions

  • Researched Canvas homepages options and coding opportunities

  • Created a presentation on various homepages that could be utilized for the course

 

Video production guidelines for TESOL’s 6 principles course

Historical Challenges

  • TESOL textbook authors were tasked to remotely record an explanatory video series of TESOL methodology but lacked video production guidelines

Design Solutions

  • Designed a video production guidebook for TESOL textbook authors

  • Included information on onboarding, timelines, and FLATS video guidelines (framing, lighting, audio, audience, technology and setting).
